narrow gauge operations circa 1950-1952

Hello ya'll, after a long break it's good to be back on this site. How exactly was the narrow gauge run during the thick of the gas boom, along with all the other freight? How often did the pipe come into Alamosa from Pueblo and in what quanities? From what I understand currently as soon as a 70 car pipe train was loaded, a crew was called and it was sent west, then work started on loading another pipe train, which was then sent out. Were narrow gauge pipe trains loaded 24/7, or just say for 12 hrs daily, and trains run at night? During the spring and fall stock rushes, with those movements, along with the oil, regular freight, and all the pipe, how much did that tax the shop crews and locmotive supply? Also, were pipe trains held back a little while regular freight and stock were moving, until there became enough locomotives available to make the runs? Also, on the west end, were the pipe trains always dropped at Carbon Jct, or were some of them pulled into Durango, and when were the Farmington crews called? Sorry for so many questions, but I like to know all the nitpicking details, if you don't ask you'll never know. It'd be great if someone could write a book on the operations, dispatching, and life of the NG from an employee perspective. John
