Out of deference to nearby wildlife I sang only the first verse, and at only a moderate volume. It was only after shouts of "More!" "More!" came echoing down the canyon that I upped the volume a notch or three before rendering the second, third and fourth verses in a somewhat more enthusiastic manner.

p.s. As this was the very first time I had really belted out the original "Union Pacific / Feather River Canyon" version the song, and not merely mumbled it to myself in an attempt to stay awake while driving home after a long day of foaming #3985, it should be considered the song's initial hearsal. (Subsequent practice sessions are referred to as
RE-hearsals.)
