Attaching place for a different type of cab curtain. 480's have them too. I don't know which version came first. It might be the square hole version had some sort of easy disconnect gizmo that allowed the curtain to come loose in an emergency. Judging from the fact that the round plate/square hole version was riveted in and the slot version is welded on. I'd guess the round plate version was an earlier form.
