It appears to be an excellent quality negative of a locomotive in very nice light with the rods down. Taken by somebody who knows how to take good pix. Not a grab shot. A pretty classic roster kind of shot. Could it be easily duplicated today? Probably. But if somebody was looking for that kind of shot, didn't live in Durango, or didn't have a high quality camera to take the shot, it fills the bill very nicely. Probably the fact it was a film negative added to its value since some folks prefer that to slides or digital images, especially older historians. Presumably there were not a lot of similar shots readily available. I suspect the buyer is happy as a clam, and probably so is the seller. Hey...win win. That's the beauty of auctions.
