It appears they are rotating the steam engines. One goes out goes to Antonito and back. Then the fire is dropped. Then one of the other K-36 go there and back and then the fire is dropped. The first locomotive is brought back under steam. The third locomotive goes out and the first locomotive becomes the backup. Then the next day becomes the main engine..

Or maybe I'm crazy...
