Don't the US railroads fit a storm or winterization window box over the cabside windows? I remember seeing these on some Milw units on my first trip to the US and thinking why can't we have those on our shuntloco? Nothing worse than sticking your head out all night working the yard with the freezing Southerly in your face or worse, down the back of your neck. The old Dsb had windwings fore and aft but weren't that much use, all the modern Shuntlocos didn't.
