It looks like engineer Fred Rhodes was called out first on the eastbound of April 18. He was first out returning to Durango. Now here is part of the labor agreement that I don't know about. Was the first out required to run a train back if one was scheduled?
The simple answer would have Rhodes run the helper, wait at Carracas and then have Jim Connor run the train. I will have to check other westbound movements to find a pattern.
