Standard gauged C19s?

February 21, 2014 01:41PM
Too much time on the internet, and I find something I never knew ... D&RG standard gauged then returned to narrow gauge several C19s?

From [www.drgw.net]

Originally named "Grand River"
Conv. to Class 74 Std Gauge #803 in 1889
Conv. back to Class 74 NG D&RG 405 in 1900

Are there picturesof the 800 series Class 74 converted locomotives? What's the story to why D&RG would convert C19s to standard gauge?

Would enjoy seeing pictures.

Thank you in advance.
