The rail swapping was very interesting. The D&RGW used rail removed from the dual gauge from Salida to Leadville to rebuilt Poncha Pass for the K36s. They got some second hand rail from the UP to complete the job. They also moved bridges around like that to. The bridge just north of Antonito came off the Royal Gorge line between Canon City and Salida when the D&RG got the 2-10-2s. One of the bridges on the Silverton branch came from the F&CC. The bridge on the Lake City branch across the Gunnison at the fork was sent to South America during WWII. Guess a bridge was too useful to scrap.
