Thanks for posting that J.B. Looks like it would be a real pretty route for the extension. I know it's not easy rebuilding a railroad, I've been involved in rebuilding mainline track on an original grade and yes it takes lots of $$$. Even if the railroad owns the land - there are repairs to a grade that hasn't had track on it in decades. The work includes things from simple cutting of trees, fixing the grade profile and cleaning ditches to expensive and involved projects such as replacing culverts and building bridges. Even if you have your own equipment and volunteers to fix the grade, the ties, rail and jewelry are costly. I understand why the project is on hold but it's nice to think about what may be possible in the future.
Of the few narrow gauge railroads that can expand, I bet the SV crew will do it someday.
