# of Uintah Ry Locomotives by Date
as compared to Henry Benders Locomotive Roster, as he states in his book, Uintah Railway the Gilsonite Route. All other listings are from the ICC, ORER, or Poor's manual. Dates that have Benders number in () are dates that another reference has given a different number of locomtives on the roster than what he has. This will be used as an aid in figuring out inconsistancies in reporting to the various agencies, and hopefully shedding some light on the use of locomtives on the Uintah. Dates are from Benders book for dates of building, scrapping, or sale of a given locomotive number + dates of ORER reports, ICC reports, or information gleened from PRSL posts on this board, from his collection of ICC reports and Poor's manual. To read it you can tell when a locomotive appears on the "roster" when its number shows up, and like wise when its number disapears associated with that date, ie, the list of loco #'s to the right should tell you what was on the Uintah at that date - or so Benders roster says so. As we are seeing there are plenty of questions regarding that roster. If you can fill any "?" marks in on this post, please email me with the info.
(?) after a date is not exact or a guess. All the locomotive numbers given in last column are assumed correct from Benders log until proven otherwise. ORER is the Official Railway Equipment Roster

Along witht he many questions brought up about a roster of the Uintah Locomotives in PRSL's posts, there are several weird things shown here, specifically the ORER's reporting of a drop from 13 to 9 locomotives int he 1927 time period. I don't give secondary reporting agencies a real weight on teh # of locomotives, especially when their number stays the same year after year 9 while the compnay might go up or down), but when sombody back then TOOK THE TIME to CHANGE the number - well that's a little more convencing that something was happening. I wish someone on the board could answer any questions as to how the ORER, ICC , and POOR's gathered their info. in this time period...... by hand written comincation, forms, telegrapg, telephone, agent inthe field, waite around till someone notices and then put the right stuff in t next issue - what?
