Interesting notation on the potato cellar fire on the old Valley Line near Hooper. Growing up in the San Luis Valley, I can tell you when they opened those potato cellars in the spring, they stunk, and even worse when on fire! And over 5 ft. of snow on the ground at Cumbres. Aaah, the good old days. I can't read these snow reports without feeling sorry for those crews. They must have just despised going to work in the winter not knowing what they will encounter climbing the passes.
