As opposed to Alamosa, East TX has this thing called "humidity", that combined with a 20mph wind straight from the North Pole cuts through everything I can put on. When I moved here, I seriously considered giving away my winter gear. Glad I didn't.
300 is on the west end of the train, RS3-C ("C" as in Caterpillar powered) #7 is on the east end. #7 pulls the train east and both work coming west. #300 has pulled the entire train back when #7 croaked last year. It was quite a show, but I wouldn't want to do that all the time.
