No need for the asbestos, Will -
You are spot on in your analysis. While corporate profits in general have been rising,
and the Fat Cats comprising the top 1/10 of one percent of the population have been
doing even better, the vast majority of Americans have seen their actual purchasing
power decline over the past ten or twelve years. While it may be true that there are
some federal employees who accomplish little if anything of real value, their pay has
at least kept up with inflation.
The U.S. is rapidly approaching the financial and social abyss of the Middle Ages in Europe, when a very small number of "royal" blood controlled nearly all of the land and wealth, and the vast majority of the population were serfs. We are doomed to return to the Dark Ages unless we wake up soon and put realistic controls on the corporate conspiracies that are increasingly dominating our lives. I probably won't live to see the worst of it, but my daughter and her husband likely will. I truly feel sorry for anyone under the age of forty who will have to try to earn a decent living in 2020 and beyond - when everything but burger flipping and puppy sitting has been outsourced to third-world countries, and the atheistic communists in China have taken complete control of the global economy.
