Yes - Shay #7 ran for a time on BHC. All those with firsthand knowledge are probably gone. It's my understanding that a flash flood washed out the dual gauge track portion and Burlington chose to only rebuild the standard gauge track, leaving no place for the Shay to operate. It sat in Hill City until Mr. Donnelley contacted John Edris [General Manager at Hesston] to say he had already ordered a flat car. John was to get some help and go to Hill City to load the Shay to come to Indiana. I always heard CB&Q kept putting the car in hot shot freights, instead of a drag local, so it took several stops in RIP tracks to re-do the tiedowns. Eventually, it arrived in Chicago and was forwarded to New Buffalo Michigan, about June of 1970 where it sat for a time due to Indiana boiler regulation, but that's another story for later.
