Durango engineers John Dieckman and J.A.Peterson have not been mentioned of late. Maybe they were firing the passenger trains. Passenger fireman were usually high seniority types.
The engineers' board out of Durango in 1940 had Marvin Fitzer, Owen House, George Densmore, Anthony Katschthaler, Henry Klahn and J.A. Peterson in that order. Then came John Dieckamn, John Johnson and Jim Connor. With the traffic patterns as they were usually 10 to 12 men worked in the engine service out of Durango, not counting the hostlers.
A side note: Engineer Henry Klahn's wife Lily died in 1940.
