Hard to believe it but this picture dates from 1989 - 'Sarah Siddons' leads a NSE '4-VEP' set, an LT MK1 brake composite and Met 1 through Chorleywood with the 'Chesham 100' special. As the train air braked Met 1 was fitted to control Air brakes and 'Sarah' was used as a mobile compressor to create brake pressure. For those who may be interested 'Sarah Siddons' was one of 20 locomitives of this class - one other survives, inoperative and landlocked, in the London Transport Museum - 'John Hampden' - to read more about them see: [en.wikipedia.org] - 'Sarah Siddons' (1755 - 1831) was a Welsh actress born in Brecon hence the pub I frequented there in 1980 opposite the cinema smiling smiley
