NNG-Chevelle?

I'm not a specialist when it comes to Cars but I always thought that if you have a Super Sport you can't have a Malibu. For my understanding(which isn't the greatest) I thought that a Malibu is just the standard version and the Super Sport is the elite version of the Chevelle type.

I have a friend that restored two 67' Chevelle's and this is something that he told me. That people who want a fast buck, will take the Malibu's and put the different Chrome hood on and all the chrome and nameplates of a Super Sport on it and then try to sell them as Super Sports. But the real answer is in the number stamped on the frame, that will tell the truth. Now that is for the 67's the 65's may be a different story.
