Three branches on the island of Sardinia. All three are independent of each other. A standard gauge mainline connects the southern coast with the northeast coast. I think all equipment is floated in on ferries from mainline. Narrow gauge is odd 3 ft 1in, Eritria a former Italian Colony has the same gauge and rebuilt to use narrow gauge steam.
The three branches did have some steam for charters. Mostly these branches are used in the summer months. A lot of EU money was used on these branches to straighten out curves and realign it. There is little or no freight service and at one station the line has dual gauge in one station.
Visited it in 2003. Rode all three lines, no steam due to fire danger.
