NNG ~ How dark is dark?

One of my trainees at Denver light rail spent a brief period as a conductor for Union Pacific. One of his runs was through the Moffat Tunnel.
One day going through the tunnel his engineer said ``Want to see how dark dark really is?'' Off went the headlight. The train was still moving even though the crew couldn't see past their noses. It was quite an experience.
