Do you know of any other narrow gauge tunnels that didn't meet this criteria?
I had 24 (14.25 miles total length) in my running district (5 lines, over 600 miles), only the 3 longest (of later era construction) were anything other than oversized rat holes, the sides of which could be touched merely by reaching out the cab window without leaning. One of longer length than the Alpine was bored through unstable wet ground and had to be double lined (brick) part way at either end resulting in an even narrower bore. Made my ears pop when ripping into that at 50 mph. Only the longest at 29000 ft had a vent shaft.
