Short answer yes.
The RGS purchased all three of them, and test ran one near Dolores. It was very hard on the rails and derailed several times. The swivel chair operators figured they would need to upgrade the line with heavier rail.
They actually started this upgrading, bit was taking a long time and was expensive. So they made arrangements to trade with the D&RG in 1916. The D&RG offered four class 70 locos, 400,402,409,and 420. The RGS turned down the 400 and took the other three. They later(1918) became RGS 40,41 and 42.
