Jim, tell me more about this second grade from Trout Creek to Curry & China Creek. If memory serves me, Pole Bridge Creek runs from the south to the north into Trout Creek. Trout creek runs east to west. From its junction with the SVR near Whitney the Trout creek branch runs east along the bottom of Trout creek until it reaches Pole Bridge Creek, then turns south and runs along the western edge of Pole Bridge Creek for maybe 1/3 mi, then horseshoe curves across Pole Bridge Creek at what appears to be a wye (the western leg has either been washed away, or it was only a camp spur?) and begins to climb the east side of Pole Bridge Creek going north, coming back into Trout Creek on the south side of the canyon, maybe 100' above creek level, turning east and continuing its journey up Trout Creek towards the junction with the Curry line and the China Creek line.
The junction of the Curry branch, China Creek branch and the Trout Creek branch is a wye next to Forest Service Rd #11. Walking south down the China creek branch, you cross the #11 Rd, losing elevation on your way down to the China Creek drainage. About a mile (?) down, a spur track cuts off to the right and heads approx NW, climbing back up to the ridge top and crossing the #11 road again, this time from south to north. It gets awfully hard to follow grade at this point due to the Huckleberry fire, but I thought I had walked the remaining grade to its endpoint, maybe another 1/2 mi. I was under the impression that this was a spur to access timber located at higher elevations on the south side of Trout Creek.
