The attached photo shows a tie plate found near the Marshall Pass line but not directly adjacent to the right-of-way. My guess is that the outer four holes were for 90 pound rail (a rail tie chart I have matches the holes for D&RGW 90 pound rail). The interesting part is the fifth hole in the middle. Could that have been for lighter, say 70 or 80 pound rail? That way the plate could be used for either 90 pound or lighter rail? The Marshall pass line had a mix of 70, 80 , and 90 pound rail.
