I have always been curious what equipment was used to load the log cars at Timber Spur but have not seen a photo of this operation. The fact NMLCo. damaged the switch bridle and throw rod would seem to indicate the loader was on the track? Since X42E arrived with 9 empties and left with ten (10) loads one log car was already spotted at the siding when they arrived. So based on arrival and departure times they had a load rate of < 10 minutes per carload (depending on the delay for the switch repair) so could this have been some type of wheeled or tracked front loader? Here is an Otto Perry photo (DPL OP -14772) of a similar train in Burns Canyon taken several months earlier on 9/1/1940.
