Not so, S.P. -
SFAIK, crackheads are only a minority. IMHO, the REAL problem is that far too many bright kids today spend way too much time playing complicated video games that some even brighter kids build for them, instead of building things themselves - like model airplanes, model trains, and later on tinkering with old cars and learning how to really DO things. I learned quite a bit about carpentry, electrical wiring, soldering and how things work in general from putting together balsa wood & tissue airplanes, and later assembling HO kits and eventually designing & building models from scratch. I even taught myself the rudiments of drawing with straight-edges, triangles and templates for 30° ovals well enough to produce the original of the diagram on [
ngdiscussion.net] long before taking any classes in either mechanical or architectural drafting. I'm old enough to remember slide rules, too - but much prefer my trusty early-90's
HP 28S calculator when it comes to accurate nine-digit computations like those posted on [
ngdiscussion.net] and, even though I wear not just a mustache but a full beard to go with it, most regulars on the NGDF are aware by now that - per [
ngdiscussion.net] - one should not take
Rüsso Loco too serious
