The CRRM ran a four car "orientation/training" train last Thursday and Friday. 346 pulled RPO/baggage car 60, coaches 280 and 284 and RGS business car Rico. Timetable direction was eastbound. (from Delay Junction). There is a portion of 3 1/2 plus percent grade going around the roundhouse. The 346 was working hard pulling this short but steep grade. RPO 60 is one of the heaviest narrow gauge cars in the collection, plus it is jam packed with artifacts. The passenger cars were empty. For last Saturdays running we sidelined the 60 due to 60's contents might shift and there was no room to make the baggage section ADA compatible.Loading all three passenger cars with visitors on Saturday still made it a hard pull, but 346 handled it.
Plans are in the works to put passenger trucks (being built) under business car B8 and put it on the rear with RPO/baggage 60, coaches 280 and 284. That would resemble a "San Juan" train. Now all we have to get is a San Juan drumhead from our friends on the left coast.
It still was a great looking train.
