NM Legislative finance committee

July 11, 2002 12:03PM
The NM Legislative Finance Committee met in Taos, NM yesterday. In the opening minutes Representative Roberto “Bobby” Gonzales of the Taos District brought up the continueing closure of the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic RR. It was discussed and considered to be a Federal Issure at the moment(I guess because the Forest Service forced the shutdown) and they were hoping that the Railroad Commission would urge the Governer to work with the Federal Delegation to get this Railraod running.
I would have no idea why this happened in Taos, or was brought up by the Taos Representative Bobby Gonzales other than maybe there is an employee of the Railroad who lives in Taos who may have shoved this information his direction.
I talked with Governor Johnson’s office and they prefer letters and a fax.
One more time the addresses to write with your copies of this to the Railroad Commission and Governors are:
If we give them enough paper work, maybe they will listen!
BS: In letters to the Commission and the Governor it needs to be emphasized that this is a Federal Issue.
