Both locomotives need to have asbestos removed, and it seemed sensible to move both of them into the old roundhouse where that work can be done in an enclosed space. The 483 is already inside, the 492 will be moved inside when the 488 is moved over to the shop for work. Part of the rational for doing it now was to give 463 some exercise with her new valves. RGRPC intends to return 483 to service when time and budget allows, and the optimists in the group think that might sooner than anyone dreamed only a year ago.
