Today at 4:40 PM PST a moment of silence was observed at Roaring Camp and Big Trees Railroad and the whistle of the R.C. Number One, the Dixiana, was blown mournfully at a place called Grizzly Flats as a tribute to Ward Kimball.
Ward's life-long love and dedication to preserving historic narrow gauge railroading will never be forgotten.
A few years ago I had the great pleasure of meeting Ward and his wife, Betty. I had a chance to listen to their life's story and the story of the Grizzly Flats Railroad. This will always be a cherished memory.
