What type of car is it? Also, what type of siding did it have? Specialty Wood Products in Denver stocks 1x4 cedar t&g boards that I have used on a standard gauge caboose (it originally had cedar 1x4 siding) and to patch rotten boards on D&RGW caboose 04990, which has 1x4 pine or fir siding.
