Re: class lights. Where do they go?

As an uninitiated Britisher Please could you tell me what the Classification lights you talk of were used for and mounted? I know a little about the use of headlights, gauge glass lamps and marker lights (are they the same as these) but have never herd of these before. Hear across the pond we don't even have headlights, moveable oil lamps that weren't very bright only. These are a pain espeshally when used as gauge lamps!
