During the removal of the eccentric crank we were joking about RGS practice/rumor of tin cans, and low and behold we found a tin coffee can.
The can was used as a spacer between the crank pin and crank.

It was a Monarch coffee can. This could become the official coffee of the C&C.

After the side rods were removed my girlfriend Ashley and I cleaned them up.
She used chemical paint remover to remove most of the paint, then I used a grinder to carefully remove the rest. after they were bare we coated them with a spray oil.

while stripping the paint off we found many stampings on the rods. Most have the Baldwin model number on the bottom of them. 10,26,D.
But right in the middle of the main rods we uncovered
"Sparks 1-28-1936 Steel".
