Thank again Earl for the great help, on this and all and many questions you answer to others.
Now can you vision the water car behind the engine tender to be a newly built Thermos bottle built with 1" steel and insulated and full of say 5000 gallons of 700 degree, 300 PSI water. Then have an insulated pipe to the injector line so you can use this "charge" to reach the Summit. The tender water would be used to spray the track for wheel flange sparks. You would insert a sleeve in the stack that could be dropped down to eliminate draft when running off the bottle and bank the fire box fire and only use it when safe.
Is it possible to consider a truck with a high-pressure tank and furnace source, which could meet the train and recharge the tank car when needed?
All the coal burning could be done in the terminals and run into the forest area with out any chance of fire.
Have the Forest Service pay the cost to buy this equipment, as they have no authority to stop trains on a Common Carrier without obtaining an embargo from the Surface Board. I head you say many times you conduct interstate commerce, so it about time the C&TS comply to its common-carrier obligations and keep running. Have the Forest Service get an embargo if they want to stop you! Proceed with the claims against them for the losses incurred by the illegal stop of interstate commerce. WGC
