The salient issue at this point is NOT the level of fire danger, but
1- The economic imapct to the communities involved.
2- The high-handed and possibly illegal way in which the FS is handling the problem.
As was mentioned elsewhere, the Attorneys General of the two states are involved, and in agreement.
The governors of both states are looking into financial relief for the communities. I understand that New Mexico is VERY close to being able to take positive action.
