The photo is not real clear but the right cap appears to be smaller than the left one. It also looks like there is little or no difference in height. As Stewert pointed out, if it was a deck girder to trestle the elevations would have been quite different. Could this have been an intermediate pier for a multi-span bridge, with one span somewhat shorter and lighter?
