Or should I say HOT?!?!?

Back in mid-September, 2008, I was lucky enough one evening to catch the hostler*
dropping the fire and then cleaning out the firebox and ashpan of #487:

Despite rumors to the contrary, SFAIK unstaged scenes such as the above will still be accessible to fans visiting Chama - once they have completed a brief safety orientation.

* IIRC, "Hostler" is a very old term - originally referring to hands who cared for a farm's or ranch's hard-working horses - and later applied to the men (and especially during WWII, the women) who cared for a railroad's iron horses.
