There were essentially 3 different air compressors used by "modern" D&RGW NG power: 9", 11" and 8 1/2" cross compound.
The 9" pump is easy to pick out of pictures as it has cooling fins on the air cylinder. The 11" has no fins. The 8 1/2" cross compound is rather obvious. WABCO also made an 8" single lung pump which looked like an itty bitty 11" (without fins).
I don't have my AFE book in front of me, but the the 9" pumps on some of the smaller engines got replaced with 11" pumps in the 1940's. Some engines never got 11" pumps.
