Re: San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum Theft

Thanks for all the feedback. I have had my son who deals with ebay purchasing WW2 military collectibles put a hit on his computer whenever a railroad pops up. The scrap dealers in our area also take down info on all sellers of scrap. I have been present when the scrap dealer contacted law enforcement about a person bringing in several barrels of brass pipe fittings. It turned out the person worked for Zurn-Wilkens and the brass fittings were rejects. I have been involved with law enforcement as well as some other members of the museum and it our belief this was the action of a meth head. There were other artifacts that would look great in someone's train room that were not touched. We have filed a police report and have been spreading the word to check the swap meets and antique stores. This was my first post on the net and know others on the NGDG would share our concern about the theft. You are probably right that we may never see our bell again but it definately hurts inside knowing that part of our history is gone. Ted
