Planning ahead for the locomotive work is essential, just as Robby states. For example, the NM Legislature is soon to be working on funding requests for the 2003 session. These are due to, I believe, the Legislative Finance Committe in June. It's time for the RGRPC to submit their request to the Commission and the Commission to the Legislature very soon.
The uncertainties arise in that it is difficult to determine the repairs a given loco will need until it is dis-assembled. Legislative requests for funds must be based on experience with similar work as well as the obvious needs.
Conclusion--Steve Butler and his hard-working shop crew will have a lot to do, and they need the support of management and of everyone concerned with the C&TSRR.
