Grant,
I have never seen any of the later papers that show what the roster looked like at the end of operations, so it's hard to say about the groups. During the same year, I've seen pictures of boxcar number 2, and boxcar 1603, so I'm confused on just how the numbering worked. I will do some digging and see if anything turns up though.
