Re: NNG: Docenting and Me

On the other hand...............my last ride, Sept.'10, was ruined by overzealous docents who never stopped rattling on, both in the open gondola and in the coaches thru the speakers, never allowing a moment of peace and quiet to just enjoy the view. I heard such wonderful news as how the CATS had some K-26s they were working on and other plain nonsense.

I realize there are those who have no idea what they are riding or where they are but this was overkill. I did not renew my Friends membership because of it but I will probably be back, just to support the railroad which I've done since 1971.

I was a volunteer "car attendent" back in the day of the converted boxcars (1972), raising and lowering the heavy steps and assisting passengers on and off. I spent time answering question when asked but tried not to show my superior knowledge for the entire 64 miles! And, if I didn't know the answer to a question, I didn't make any up, either.
