Attractive nuisance! The first time I ran into this my only involvement was my Insurance Business and my interest in railroads. It was in the early 60's and Granite City Steel, the ones who cast the one piece locomotive beds had bought some NYC locomotives to cut up for scrap.
Apparently the crews just got off and they sent the engines fully stocked for service on to the steel company. A boy got under, over, or whatever,
the 10' high fence around the steel company and stole a batch of track torpedoes from the engines and was attempting to tamp them into a pipe to make a pipe bomb.
The bomb exploded while he was working on it. I
believe it cost him a leg plus other injuries.
He was awarded, (If I rember right) $150,000.00,
a huge settlement for that time. Insurance people, the Railroads, Businesses, all were shocked and mad but you can see where we went from there.
