New D&S Sandhouse

With all the flap on the 50 tonner,the D&S is about to engage in an historic undertaking.It's to build a new sandhouse located somewhat north of the existing structure in fact near the large ash pit.Construction is to start in the next few weeks or so. The old sand house "gave up the Ghost" in the fall and the engines have been sanded by "Bag and loader form" ever since.It's interesting that the consensis from the shop originially was to errect a modern sand facility
but I guess the upper management wanted to go exact original! The new sandhouse will be exactly
like the old one only this one will work!!
In passing the old sandhouse is one of the oldest
strucures on the property.Sadly thats one thing
that the Durango lacks.Oh, the old sand house will
remain as a preserved structure!
