Oh it's lots more fun to see the drivers sliding on the rails rather than turning. They probably had to replace the tires due to flat spots any way. Drop the Rods?

Perhaps there was some other problem with the drivers preventing them from turning. Rusted, frozen berrings after all those years? I've heard of far stranger things.
