For the #14:

>> Side elevation drawing # A 16512. Filed: 5 / 2.1
>> Materials book Purchase order sheet 2835 Filed: Box 13
The "elevation drawing" is not what you see for rod engines. The Shay elevation drawings are generally rather rough and missing lots of details. The locomotives, engines sets, trucks and tenders (in the case of 3 truck shays) each have their own elevation drawings. Apparently made it easier to mix-n-match components to build locomotives to customer specifications.
The "Detail Index" & "Materials book Purchase order sheet" is a must-have if you want to get a feel for what it would take to build an engine. It's a line-by-line listing off all the castings and raw material used in the construction of the locomotive.
Every piece of I-beam, angle iron, channel, sheet steel, castings, and what materials are used for what parts, etc. And a drawing number is listed for every part.
With the drawing numbers from the Detail Index / Materials Book Purchase Order Sheet you can search for specific drawing in both the Califronia State Railroad Museum Library, and the equally as vast, but not electronically indexed, Allen County Museum & Historical Society.

Hope this helps.
