I just happened by this place the other day. Its a very nice display.

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that it does run. With the rubber tires and the bars to hook up the cars it looks to me like one of the trains you see at the conventions to haul around the kiddies, no tracks necessary. If it didn't run, with the effort they put into making it look right, I'm sure they would have used wheels and couplers that look more prototypical.

None the less it is a pretty cool display.
