Another thread has drifted on to this topic so I thought I would start a new thread. It seems to me that while cattle was a big business on the 3rd division most of the stock loading on the 4th division and the RGS was sheep. Joe Vigil and I used to talk about the vast number of sheep that the Grande hauled out of Chama. I recall he said that a couple of really hard winters in the thirties is what ended most of that business.
Does someone have access to car loading figures for sheep and cattle loading on the 4th division?
I have always thought it interesting that lamb never made it into the New Mexico "Mexican Food" menu in restaurants.
