My wife and I were married in Modesto, CA, in July 1960 and our 30 day honeymoon, which ended in New York City, went through Colorado. We spent one week in Durango, Silverton, Ridgway, Ouray, and Telluride. First time in Colorado but certainly not the last!
On two separate days we walked through different parts of the yards in Durango and followed one train powered by K-37 no. 495 as far south as Bondad. On the day in between those two days, we rode the Silverton Train. Only one of those per day back then. We were in a car we had rented in Montrose when ours broke down and we had to get it back to the rental agency at the end of 7 days.
I took lots of color slides in the yards during those two walks. 34 of them. Thanks to PhotoShop and a good scanner, the slides from my 35mm Ziess Ikon camera of the time came out very well.
If any of you would like to see them, they are on Picasa with the same title as this message. The direct link is:

In scanning these, I realized that only the depot, the turntable, and perhaps parts of the roundhouse are still around. Everything else, including the Durango West Yard and the 1960 track arrangement, is gone.
Some of you may be interested in the details in the photos. Photos following the Farmington train are at the end of the series of 34.
