The SP ng. didn't have anything as fancy as a barrel transfer. When talc from Keeler was transferred to standard gauge gons at Owenyo this trestle dump was used. And with talc dust being as fine and light as it is, the cloud of dust completely obliterated the mainline to Keeler. This was taken in August of 1959 on the last day of steam operation on the ng., which was also the last revenue freight steam operation on the whole of the vast imperial SP.
A technical photographic note. I do not have masks for 127 film, so I laid the negative directly onto the glass of my Epson scanner, paranoid that my efforts would be ruined by those dreaded newton rings discussed in some earlier posts. Much to my joy, no rings. So far so good.
